Why Nsukka, Abakiliki residents are out of power – EEDC

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) on Tuesday explained why some customers under Nsukka and Abakaliki Districts are out of power.

EEDC in a statement made available to DAILY POST by its head of communications, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ezeh said the affected customers, who are being serviced by the Ezillo and Eha-Amufu 33KV Feeders, were out of supply for some time now “as a result of a fire outbreak that occurred at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station, Nkalagu on Saturday, 2nd December, 2017 at 14:25hrs.”

Ezeh added that “as a result of this development, the T1A Power Transformer at the Station, belonging to TCN, which supplies power to the mentioned Feeders was severely burnt, thereby putting customers in the affected area out of supply.”

“However, as a palliative, the EEDC is making alternative arrangement to provide supply to the affected customers.

“While this may not be adequate due to some constraints, we appeal to our esteemed customers to kindly bear with us.

“We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience this unfortunate incident will cause our esteemed customers; and assure them that normal supply will be restored as soon as the transformer is replaced”, he added.
