Gubernatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo State, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has declared that the spirit of love that is already lost among human beings is the basic reason Nigeria is still in crisis.
Alli, a former Secretary to Oyo State Government, observed that the loss of this spirit in individuals finding themselves at the corridors of power makes people forget why they are in the positions and behave as if living on earth is eternal.
He made these assertions in a statement issued on his behalf by Comrade Taiwo Ibrahim, his media aide, a copy of which was made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Alli, while congratulating Christians in Nigeria particularly those in Oyo state, appealed to all and sundry to use the period of Christmas as a moment for reflection.
He urged Christians to uphold the basic principles Jesus Christ emphasised for the battlement of the society.
Alli said, “I Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli felicitate with the people of Oyo State on the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. I remind them to always uphold the basic principles Jesus emphasised for the betterment of the society.
“The celebration is not limited to Christians alone but to humanity as a whole judging from the teaching of Christ which if the world imbibes shall go a long way to engender justice and peaceful co-existence.”
He insisted that the spirit of love that is already lost among human beings especially in Nigeria is the basic reason the society is always on crises.
The governorship candidate said, “The spirit of love that is already lost among human beings is the basic reason why the society is always in crisis.
“The loss of this spirit in individuals finding themselves at the corridor of power makes people forget the ephemerality of their position and behave as if living on earth is eternal.
“You imagine some few misguided elements who feel killing other people will make them holy before God, our God is not wicked, He is love and loving, some amass what belongs to all, this is not the way of the Lord.
“This season should serve as a moment for reflection so that we collectively work to make our society a better place to live.
“The ZLP governorship candidate specially wishes the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), traditional rulers, opinion leaders, Christians as a whole and the entire people of Oyo state a happy and peaceful Yuletide season.”
