A member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, James Faleke has disclosed that the 2017 budget is ready but that its passage is being delayed to avoid padding.
Faleke made the disclosure while addressing reporters at the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Secretariat in Abuja after meeting with the party’s stakeholders from Kogi.
The former running mate to the late gubernatorial candidate of the party in Kogi State said all committees had finished working on the budget.
According to Faleke, “Budget process takes some time, unlike what we had before where you talk about budget padding or no padding.
“What the national assembly tried to do this time is to do the needful once and for all with the budget details being submitted.
“The budget is ready, only to be considered on the floor as all committees have finished their work, probably this week.
“It is not about delay but doing the right things; if we hurriedly do it and get things wrong, Nigerians will condemn us.”
