Former Chelsea midfielder, Frank Lampard has said that Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku would be a perfect replacement for Diego Costa.
28-year-old Costa, had earlier this month told reporters that manager, Antonio Conte had told him he is not in his plans for next season.
The 24-year-old Belgian has, however, been strongly tipped for a return to his former club.
Lampard noted that Lukaku, who netted 25 times in the premier League last season, has progressed significantly at Everton.
He told L’Equipe, “What he’s done in the last two or three years is that he’s really developed.
“Chelsea bought him as a youngster and, whether it was too early or whether he didn’t get a chance I don’t know, but I love his attitude, I love the way he plays.
“He’s very determined. I remember in training, he’d practise his shooting and would be trying to score goals pretty much every day.
“I respect lads like that. I think he deserves the best, and talking about Chelsea, if Costa does move on and they want to get someone like-for-like, a big front man who can score goals, Lukaku has proven he can do that.”
