The Alliance for Democracy (AD) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to register the newly launched Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) over claims that the Party unduly appropriated its logo.

This was made known in a statement signed by the National Auditor of the Party, Ismail Ayodele.

According to the statement, AD said it has already called the attention of INEC to the association and the need not to register it as a political party.

The statement reads in part: “We write to protest and strongly oppose the use of the logo launched today (Monday) in Abuja by a new association known as Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) looking for INEC registration to become political party.

“Alliance for Democracy (AD) is not against the coming of APDA but we are strongly against the snatching of 95 per cent of our existing logo which has been in use from 1998 to date.”

“We have already called the attention of INEC and the need not to register APDA as a political party.”

It could be recalled that APDA was on Monday floated by the founder of Daar Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi, alongside other notable politicians in Abuja.
