Senator Shehu Sani, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central, has given reasons why the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, cannot stop underage persons from voting in elections.
Recall that INEC had set up eight-man committee to investigate the alleged incident of underage voters in the recently-conducted local council elections in Kano state.
According to the lawmaker, underage voters cannot be stopped because the State Independent Electoral Commissions, SIECOM, cannot validate or nullify outcome of elections.
”There’s nothing INEC can do about kid voters under SIECOMS as long as they cannot invalidate or nullify the outcome of the elections.
”SIECOMS simply needs to be abolished,” Sani wrote on his Twitter handle.
