Why Ibrahimovic did not play for United against Hull City in EFL Cup semi-final

Manchester United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not in the squad that faced Hull City in the first leg of their semi-final tie in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

The veteran Swede missed the game due to illness.

It gave the chance to Marcus Rashford to start upfront, with Wayne Rooney and Henrikh Mkhitaryan supporting him.

Ibrahimovic was an unused substitute on Sunday as United beat Reading in the FA Cup.

Manager Jose Mourinho will be hoping to have the 35-year-old fit for the visit of Liverpool this weekend.

United defeated Hull 2-0, thanks to goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini.
