Why IBB, Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar are conspiring against Buhari – Lawmaker, Kassim‎ clai

A member of Nassarawa State House of Assembly, Kassim Mohammed Kassim, has accused former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida and ex-military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, of “conspiracy against good governance” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kassim, who made the claim under the aegis of The Democratic Youth Congress, Kassim accused the three former leaders of being uncomfortable with Buhari’s stance on corruption.

He alleged that the former leaders, handed over to Nigerians corruption, nepotism, underdevelopment and values laced with mutual distrust and suspicion.

Speaking with Punch on Monday in Lafia, the state capital, Kassim also alleged that the former leaders have began, “a search for President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.”

Kassim, who represents Akwanga South in the state House of Assembly said at no time did the President confide in any of the former leaders about his future political plans.

He stated that the former leaders lacked the moral standing to chart a political course for a country they “ignominiously mismanaged.”

Kassim said such a move was not only “an act of betrayal,” but “arson against the collective wishes of the Nigerian people.”

He maintained that the so-called search smirks of “hypocrisy and intent to cause political disharmony in the polity.”

Kassim said, “What have Obasanjo, Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar bequeathed to this country as leaders, if not corruption, nepotism, underdevelopment and values laced with mutual distrust and suspicion which has further compounded our journey to prosperity as a nation.

“Enough is enough. We Nigerian youths have allowed such leaders to mortgage the future of this country.

“We, Nigerian youths, would henceforth use any civil and political will to resist such attempt by past leaders to determine the common destiny of this great nation.”

The lawmaker pledged the group’s “unflinching support to the emergence and continuation in office of President Muhammad Buhari beyond 2019.”
