Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has told sports journalists that he left Italian outfit, Lazio for Turkish side, Trabzonspor to clear his head and be happy playing football again.
Onazi spent five years with Lazio before his transfer.
The Super Eagles star said the security situation in Turkey doesn’t bother him.
Speaking to reporters, Onazi said, “I needed to make this move to clear my head and be happy playing football again.”
The 23-year-old signed a four-year deal at the former Turkish champions earlier this week.
He added, “Personally I think security is the same everywhere.”
In his five years at Lazio, Onazi scored seven goals in 110 games, having joined from My People FC in Nigeria.
The midfielder suffered from loss of form as well as injuries during the 2015/16 season and resulting to a failed move to German side – Werder Bremen.
He only became a regular with the capital club in April, when Simone Inzaghi took over as caretaker coach, thus elevating his appearance count to 20 last season.
