Why Dogara was absent at APC caucus meeting with Oshiomhole

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, was not present when the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus met, because he was in Bauchi for a senatorial by-election, the leader of the House of Representatives and chairman of the APC Caucus, Femi Gbajabiamila, has claimed.

Dogara’s position in the ruling party has been a subject of speculation, especially after the gale of defections from both legislative chambers recently.

However, his failure to attend the meeting with the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, further raised eyebrows.

But Gbajabiamila, speaking to Premium Times, insisted that it was because Dogara was away on assignment.

“The Speaker is a member of the APC Caucus as far as I know.

“He was not at the meeting just like several other members were absent due to one reason or the other. That does not mean they are not APC members.

“The Speaker I’m sure you’re aware has been in Bauchi where they just concluded a senatorial by-election,” the lawmaker stated.
