Jose Mourinho may not receive a multi-million pound cheque from Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, after he was sacked on Thursday afternoon.

According to reports in the British media, there is a potential legal war over his pay-off, because former club doctor, Eva Carneiro, is taking Chelsea to an employment tribunal.

The Blues insist that they don’t need to pay Mourinho anything, as they believe he breached his contract when he fell out with Carneiro, in the first league game of the season against Swansea.

However, they have agreed to pay the Portuguese £250,000 per week up to a maximum of £10million – until he takes a new job.

It is understood that this agreement, is why his dismissal was by “mutual consent”.

Initial rumours had claimed Abramovich will be made to pay Mourinho about £40m as compensation.
