Why Buhari’s Independence address delights me – Ayade

The governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade, has expressed delight over President Muhammadu Buhari’s nationwide address to Nigerians to mark the nation’s 57th Independence anniversary.

Ayade was particularly delighted with a portion in the address, where President Buhari lauded his contributions and that of few other governors to the success of the Federal Government’s effort at diversifying the economy through agriculture.

The Governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary and Senior Special Assistant on Media, Christian Ita pointed out the areas in the address as it touches on the efforts of the Ayade’s government in Cross River.

He said, “With respect to the economy, the government has remained pro-active in its diversification policy. The Federal Government’s agricultural Anchor Borrowers Programme, which I launched in November 2015, has been an outstanding success.

He added, “These initiatives have been undertaken in close collaboration with the states. I wish to commend the efforts of the governors of Kebbi, Lagos, Ebonyi and Jigawa states for their support to the rice and fertiliser revolutions.

“Equally commendable are contributions of the governors of Ondo, Edo, Delta, Imo, Cross River, Benue, Ogun, Kaduna and Plateau states for their support for the presidential initiative for palm oil, rubber, cashew, cassava, potatoes and other crops.”
