Why Buhari is Nigeria’s first sensitive, reasonable President – Fawehinmi

Mohammed Fawehinmi, first son of late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as the first sensitive and reasonable president of Nigeria.

Mohammed stated this on Tuesday at a ceremony for the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, on late Fawehinmi at Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He described Buhari as the first reasonable president for listening to Nigerians and acting accordingly by recognising the struggles for the actualisation of June 12.

Mohammed said “June 12 is the foundation of democracy in Nigeria.

“Buhari is the first head of state to listen to his people and have acted accordingly. President Buhari is the first sensitive and reasonable Head of State we have had in Nigeria.”

On how he felt about the recognition of his father, he said, “I feel very elated, I feel very proud, my family feels very honored that all the suffering was not in vain and that the Nigerian people have a chance of better governance in future.

“I know he would have taken it, I know my father more than anybody. There are two reasons why he would taken it, one, because June 12 was actualised, two because MKO Abiola was recognised as president-elect. And you can see from the suggestion at the Senate that they are going to eventually declare the election result and he is going to be given all his benefits which he has lost, after 25 years.

“So, for that reason that is victory for him (Gani) because he went through hell and high waters to make sure that June 12 was actualised.”
