Gabon and Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, was forced to attend the 2016 GLO/CAF Awards on Thursday in casual clothes, because his luggage got missing at the Abuja Airport.
Aubameyang who was at the end of serious backlash on social media, took to his Instagram page to explain what happened.
He wrote:”When you arrive for the ceremony…. and they lost our baggage!! So that’s how we dress tonight. Thanks Lufthansa.”
Caf spokesman Junior Biyam added: “Aubameyang only arrived at the Hilton Hotel in Abuja an hour before the event without his bags, as they were missing in transit. That was why he dressed that way.”
The other two finalists, Riyad Mahrez and Sadio Mane, were dressed in sharp suits.
Mahrez dethroned Aubameyang to emerge the 2016 CAF African Footballer of the Year , while Mane finished in third place.
