Ismael Ahmed, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investment Programmes, SIP, has spoken on Friday’s Supreme Court ruling in the intra-party case involving Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The judgement favoured People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the state.
The Supreme Court nullified APC votes in the 2019 general elections in Zamfara, declaring that the party had no candidates.
The five-member panel of justice led by Justice Tanko Mohammed, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), in a unanimous judgement, held that the APC failed to conduct primaries in accordance with the party’s rules.
In his reaction posted on Twitter, Ahmed gave reasons the APC lost in some states to the opposition PDP.
He tweeted: “We lost two States before going to polls – Zamfara and Rivers. We lost Imo and Adamawa bc (because) of ego.
“We lost Sokoto and Bauchi due to false confidence. We lost Oyo due to whatever it was we lost Oyo for. We have work to do in the build-up to the next round. Serious work!”
Meanwhile, there was wild jubilation by PDP members in Gusau metropolis as well as headquarters of the 14 Local Government Areas of the state following the judgement.
