Why Anambra has not developed – APC aspirant, Moghalu

All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Anambra, George Moghalu, has lamented that the non-existence of zonal formula was why the state remains “under-developed”.

He also dismissed reports of a zoning arrangement for the forthcoming governorship election.

Moghalu said Anambra requires a vibrant person to develop it, adding that if allowed to lead, “I will not look back in transforming the state into an enviable status”.

He stated that the consecutive terms by Governors Chris Ngige and Peter Obi distorted the earlier arrangement.

Moghalu told with newsmen on Friday that an attempt was made towards zoning in 2003 when former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju from Anambra South was about to be returned for a second term in office.

The aspirant said the plan did not materialise as Dr. Chris Ngige from Anambra Central took over.

He said the formula was further disorganized when Peter Obi from the same Anambra Central with Ngige, became Governor.

Moghalu further insisted that zoning won’t be a deciding factor when the electorate go to polls in November.
