What we’ll do if you fail to collect your certificates – BSU warns graduates

The Senate of the Benue State University, BSU, has called on students that graduated from the institution from 1996 to 2013/2014 academic session to collect their certificates with immediate effect.

The school authority lamented that the owners of the certificates which have been signed have refused to come for them.

It, however, gave a deadline, which is from December 1 2017 to February 2018 for the owners of the results to collect them or risk paying a mandatory penalty.

A statement signed by the Assistant Registrar and Secretary to Council of the institution, Mrs. Catherine .T. Bur and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday, said, “The Governing Council of Benue State University, Makurdi has observed with dismay that the University has in its vaults a high number of certificates which have been signed but have not been collected by their owners who are graduates of various degree and diploma programmes.

“2. Consequently, Management has approved a grace period of three months, commencing from 1st December, 2017 to 28th February, 2018 during which all graduates of the University, from the pioneer sets of graduates in 1996 to those of the 2013/2014 Academic Session, must collect their certificates.

“3. Graduates who fail to collect their certificates after 28th February, 2018 shall pay a mandatory penalty of one Hundred Naira (N100, 00) only per each day of default.

“4. The University has concluded arrangements to ensure that henceforth, certificates of graduands are presented to them during convocations on their presentation of proof of payment of prescribed fees for the relevant certificates.

“5. Graduates are to note that certificates are not collected by proxies.

“6. All graduates of the University, are by this notice advised to comply with these directives in their own interest.”
