What Secondus said during inauguration of PDP National Campaign Council

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Uche Secondus, on Thursday in Abuja, inaugurated the National Campaign Council for the 2019 general elections.

He said the council members have the historic responsibility of managing and driving the party’s campaigns.

Secondus expreseed confidence that the “assemblage of capable, courageous and patriotic men and women would lead us successfully to realize this objective of winning in order to rescue our dear country from the hands of the failed APC government.”

He charged the Council, especially the management led by the Director-General and Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki to brace up for the challenges ahead.

His words: “If you meet every day with optimism, if you confront every obstacle with determination; if you refuse to give up; if you never quit; if you approach every challenge with confidence and pride, no dream would be beyond your reach.

“As we go into the 2019 elections, the questions confronting us as a country are clear: Is there rule of Law in Nigeria? Do we have an effective government structure? Do we have an economic policy that can create jobs and drive prosperity? How do we stop the killings and insurgency? How do we engender national security and unity?

“The task before us and indeed every PDP member is to canvass the PDP agenda, the PDP solution to these issues in the over 10,000 electoral wards in Nigeria.

“We will run a decentralized campaign that is based at the ward level, it will be peaceful, smart and issue driven and we will not allow ourselves to be distracted by the adversarial campaign of the APC.

“Our Presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Wazirin Adamawa and his running mate, Mr Peter Obi, our Governors and Governorship candidates, National Assembly candidates and State Assembly candidates are shining examples of the products of the rebranded PDP we intend to sell in this campaign.

“Therefore, we would go into this campaign with pride, passion and conviction and would not be deterred or intimidated by the expected harassment of the drowning APC.

“I urge all of us to work very hard to educate the voters to ensure that they turn out to vote for PDP and to employ all legitimate means to protect our votes.”
