What police said after robbers killed Chief Imam, injured neighbour in Jigawa

The police in Jigawa state has disclosed that suspected hoodlums allegedly killed 65-year-old Nuhu Idris, Chief Imam of Kwara Village, Balagun ward in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse.

He explained that the incident happened at about 1:00am of Friday when suspected armed robbers attacked Nuhu Idris at his home and robbed him the sum of 400,000 a compensation he received from the state government for taking part of his land for the construction of road.

“The incident happened at about 1:00am in Kwara village in jigawa where robbers trailed one Nuhu Idris after collecting some money and killed him, ” he said.

“His neighbour was also injured in his effort to rescue the victim.”

Jinjiri said the remains of the deceased had been released to his family for burial while the injured person has been taken to hospital for medical attention.

The PPRO added that the police had commenced investigations into the matter to trail and arrest the suspects.

Speaking to DAILY POST, Aminu liman, the deceased’s son also confirmed that the hoodlums collected the sum of 400,000 before they killed his father.

Recall that this happened two days after suspected armed bandits trailed and killed one businessman, Alhaji Abdulkadir of Garin Maidawa village in Dutse local government area after selling his cows.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer also warned people to imbibed culture of saving their money in banks and stop taking money to their home after businesses, for their safety.
