What Osinbajo told new board members

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has advised the newly inaugurated board members of agencies under his office to focus on economic development and revival of the country from recession.

Osinbajo said this while inaugurating board chairmen and their members on Tuesday in Abuja.

The VP, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, advised the members to key into the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Federal Government.

“Nigeria has over the last 24 to 36 months passed through a period of economic recession which necessitated the development of a home grown Economic Recovery and Growth Plan which you are expected to key into in view of the importance of your institutions to national economic stability.

“I therefore expect robust policies initiatives from you as members of the boards being inaugurated today,” he said.

He, however, directed that the management of their organisations should be allowed to perform their duties without any interference from the board.

He also cautioned them against corrupt practices, stating that government would not hesitate to sanction any infractions.

Mr Ignatius Longjan, Chairman of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), who spoke on behalf of members promised that they would be diligent in the discharge of their assignment.

“In this national assignment given to us, we will do it diligently and appropriately, we will not let you down.

“We will carry out these assignments to the best of our abilities; whatever will make Nigeria better, we will do it,” Longjan said.

Three boards were inaugurated with the Vice President as Chairman of National Boundary Commission (NBC) and Border Community Development Agency (BCDA).
