Justin Kluivert, son of former Netherlands star, Patrick Kluivert, has lifted the lid on his discussion with Jose Mourinho, following Ajax’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League final last season.
The Portuguese manager hit the headlines for his wild celebrations in Europa League final in Stockholm last May and was spotted chatting with the Ajax youngster. Kluivert in the aftermath of the win.
The 18-year-old winger played no part in the final but is being tipped for stardom after a barnstorming start to his professional career.
He has scored eight goals in his opening 40 appearances for Ajax and is being monitored by the Red Devils.
Asked about his conversation with Mourinho after last summer’s final, Kluivert told Algemeen Dagblad, “Mourinho did not have a second to discuss a transfer.
“He thought it was nice to see me. Mourinho knows me from the time that I was a little boy and my father played at Barcelona when Mourinho worked there as an assistant trainer.”
He added, “It was a shame that I didn’t play in the final, he said. ‘But the journey there was special for a youngster of 17 to make.”
