Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has revealed that he is the only coach in Europe, that announces his team’s starting XI every Friday.
The Frenchman has been in charge of the Gunners for two decades and always let his players know whether or not they will be starting a game before the match day.
“I found this out at the UEFA manager’s meeting in Geneva,” Wenger said.
“I’m basically the only manager who gives the team on Friday.
“Everyone else seems to inform the squad of their team as late as possible.
“Sometimes you give the team late for solidarity reasons. Those who don’t play, maybe they’ll call their agents etc.
“But those who are starting, they want to know.
“When you are picking the team, you usually know 9 out of 11 by Friday.
“But I find that if you do not know the team on Friday evening, you don’t know it on Saturday morning either.”
“I am getting a bit old now to make long-term plans!
“For the moment I am a club manager, we shall see what happens”, he added.
