Edgar Imohimi, new Lagos comissioner of police, on Wednesday highlighted his plans and programmes.
DAILY POST reports that Imohimi spoke at a briefing held at the police officers’ mess in Ikeja, Lagos.
The new CP said being familiar with the terrain of the nation’s commercial hub, he will capitalize on his experience.
He warned against illegal detention by vigilance groups, insisting that is not their job.
“I already to OPC and others. We will work with any group ready to work with us but they must act within the ambit of the law”, the CP said.
“Use of firearms is also a key issue. I have informed officers and men against indiscriminate use. When they can open fire is clearly spelt out and they must not flout established rules.
“Drug dealers are in trouble. Anybody dealing in illicit drugs, narcotics should be ready for me. We will go after all those who engage in the act.
“Anti-kidnapping and anti-cultism task force has been unbundled. They will now operate separately. I believe this will ensure more effectiveness.
“I intend to fight corruption. We have set up a Citizens Complaints Hot Centre that will operate from the Lagos command intelligence laboratory.
“Dedicated phone lines and e-mails will be functional from 6pm this evening. Complaints will be received 24 hours in Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba and English and pidgin.
