Ahead of the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Governor Idris Wada has declared that all he needed from the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is a level playing field before and during the election in the state.
He made this demand while interacting with State House correspondents shortly after meeting behind closed doors with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Wada, who is the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the election, will be squaring up with a former Governor of the state, Alhaji Abubakar Audu – the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate.
The Governor expressed optimism that if a level playing field was created for the election, the people of the state would give him overwhelming support at the poll based on his performance in office.
His words, “I will tell the people of the state to keep faith because we have a transparent President.
“Provided a level playing field is created and security is tightened, any miscreant dealt with in the course of the election, people given the opportunity to express their will, I believe that on the basis of performance I have laid down over the last three-and-a-half years, our people will provide an overwhelming support for my candidacy.
“All we need is a level playing field.”
While noting that he was working hard ahead of the next month election, Wada maintained that he was collaborating with security agencies to ensure that there is a secure and safe environment for the people of the state in the course of the campaigns and during the election.
