Governor Samuel Ortom has thanked the people of Benue State for the memorable reception they gave the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during his campaign in the State.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, the Governor appreciated former Senate Presidents, Senators David Mark and Iyorchia Ayu, immediate past Governor, Gabriel Suswam and other leaders of PDP in the State for their selfless contributions which ensured the success of the presidential rally in Makurdi.

He commended the Tor Tiv, the Och’ Idoma and the entire Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, Christian Association of Nigeria as well as the Muslim Community for granting audience to the former Vice President.

He also thanked the Chairman and entire members of the State Working Committee of PDP, the State Campaign Council, as well as thousands of members of the party across the 23 local government areas for their tireless efforts in the hitch-free hosting of the Makurdi rally.

The Governor expressed gratitude to Benue people, including traders, workers, motorists, youths and all other groups for coming out in large numbers to receive the PDP Presidential candidate and his entourage at the Makurdi Airport to Aper Aku Stadium.

Ortom also stated that Atiku Abubakar remains the best man for the Presidency of Nigeria at a time the country’s economy is being poorly run and its unity threatened as a result of unpopular Federal Government policies worsened by impunity and marginalisation.

Describing Alhaji Atiku’s declaration to support the Benue State Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law to ensure lasting peace and security, as heart-warming and reassuring, Ortom urged the people of the State to sustain the momentum of support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, his re-election bid and all PDP candidates vying for various positions in the coming general election.
