Atletico Madrid midfielder, Saul Niguez, has said that Diego Costa’s return to the club will put Antoine Griezmann “on alert”.
Costa’s return has led to reports that Atletico may need to sell, to lower their wage bill because of La Liga financial controls.
Griezmann was the subject of interest from Manchester United last summer and the Premier League club are believed to retain an interest in the forward.
Speaking to Deportes Cuatro TV, Saul said: “Costa’s return will be good for everyone.
“For sure, he will put all the forwards on alert, including Griezmann.”
Saul who has also been linked with a move away, says he is going nowhere, especially after signing a deal until 2026.
“If you sign until 2026 it’s because you mean it,” he said.
“It’s not as if I’ve reached a level where I can’t get better here.
“I want to give everything to be the best. The club is growing and there’s still room to improve.
“It’s like a family. And I have my parents, my brothers, friends, a partner who gives me tremendous stability. I have everything in life now.”
