President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the new officers, who participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Congress in his home state of Katsina on Saturday, to be diligent and God-fearing in the discharge of their duties.
A number of the congresses held nationwide were marred by boycott, protests and parallel voting.
In Katsina, key executive members returned for another term in office.
“I call on you to fear God in whatever you do as we would transit to the next world and account for our deeds before our creator,” Buhari said in his Sarkin Yara A electoral ward in Daura.
In Lagos, APC National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu, lauded the peaceful conduct of the congress in the state.
“I am very happy and proud of our party. We are demonstrating to the people across the country that we are a law-abiding political party; that we believe in the tenets of democracy and that we demonstrate the openness in the congresses across the country, particularly, I can speak emphatically on Lagos,” he said.
Tinubu also said members who had complaints about the congress “should write to the party headquarters and just don’t take laws into their hands.”
