Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, has warned about plans by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to destroy alliances against the party before the 2019 elections.
Falae, speaking in Abuja on Thursday at the inauguration of a committee for the alliance of over 30 political parties, said the ruling party would employ all kinds of gimmicks, including disseminating fake news to make alliances fail in the forthcoming election.
He, however, pledged to wrestle power with the APC and take over from Buhari, who he described as a ‘Sitting African President’.
His words: “This is not for speech making to solemnly inaugurate this steering committee that you steer Nigeria, God willing with a new trajectory of hope and development. I’m glad to be here. This secretariat is very crucial to what we want to do.
“We should be conscious that not everybody in Nigeria wants us to succeed. The APC government must be working overtime to make us fail. We cannot afford to fail.
“This is why this secretariat at the signing ceremony, I made a passionate plea that this secretariat must be established immediately so that we can remain on the same page at all times.
“Despite the establishment of this secretariat and of the steering committee, efforts will continue to be made to be made by the other side to scatter us. Please, for those who are representing us here, whatever you hear, no matter how authentic it may sound, remember what Donald Trump said, it may be fake news.
“So, check immediately with your colleagues, realizing that the stakes are very high.
“On behalf of myself and my party, I pledge our total support to genuinely and sincerely wrest power from the hands of a sitting African president. The word African is significant.”
