The Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Zone Six, Musa Kimo has applauded the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, for launching the ‘Operation Puff Adder’.
The AIG said this at the Police Headquarters, Diamond Hill Calabar while addressing officers and men of the Command on Thursday.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Friday, he applauded the IGP on the potent operational idea code name Puff Adder, and thereby directed Commissioners of Police within the Zone to replicate same.
Equally, Kimo enjoined police personnel to always be civil, “polite and courteous in dealing with members of the public”. He further warned against illegal duties especially escort as only the Inspector General of Police is the appropriate authority for such approval.
He also informed the officers and men that the Inspector General of Police has graciously secured the passage of Police Trust Fund Bill from the National Assembly and expressed hopes that when fully operational, the logistics, manpower, training, welfare challenges of the Police will be a thing of the past as the bill will enhance better service delivery.
The AIG lamented the increase in violent crimes such as kidnapping, cultism, murder and attack on policemen by hoodlums and the snatching of their arms.
He also stated that the worst scenario was where policemen are attacked and murdered and their arms taken away without any resistance.
According to the AIG, the Force was worried about this ugly trend, and enjoined policemen to be vigilant and alert while on duty. He also enjoined the personnel to desist from extra-judicial killings, to respect human rights and shun corruption, etc.
Kimo also held interactive session with members of the Command PCRC and eminent persons’ forum where he solicited their continued support to the fight against crimes and criminality.
