West Brom manager happy with Ideye’s improvement

Ideye vs QPR

West Brom boss Alan Irvine, has revealed his delight at Brown Ideye’s improvement, since he made his return from injury.

The Nigerian striker played for 770 minutes, as the Baggies were beaten 3-2 by Queens Park Rangers in last weekend’s round of fixtures.

“I think he’s progressing and I think he did a lot of good things,” Irvine told BirminghamMail.

“He had a good chance to score, and probably should have done, but is getting sharper and sharper and better with each week that’s passing and I feel it’s only a matter of time before he gets his first Premier League goal.

“His record in the past is one where he’s scored goals. He missed pre-season and came in to us late – anyone who misses pre-season will find it difficult to catch up – and unfortunately he then got an injury just as he was getting close to playing and that set him back.

“He’s been unfortunate. I didn’t anticipate the injury so I didn’t expect him to take quite so long but that was something he couldn’t control and obviously it was a bitter blow for him and a bitter blow for us.”

Ideye, who is the club record goalscorer, has only scored once for West Brom since his summer move.
