Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has admitted he is worried of his players burning out ahead of the FA Cup final.
The Gunners have two matches left to play this season – their last league match against West Brom at home and the FA Cup final against Aston Villa at Wembley.
Wenger watched his team fail to score for the third consecutive game at the Emirates, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland.
Arsenal have all but sewn up third place and Wenger is considering resting players on Sunday.
“It’s a bit worrying for the cup final. But there’s still nearly two weeks to go. I don’t know if I will rest some players on Sunday but it’s possible,” Wenger said.
“We lack a bit of sharpness at the moment, the way we prepare our chances and our finishing as well.
“We didn’t look like scoring. Even if we had 28 shots on goal. There was always something missing. You could see that. They threw their body in every time and we needed something special to score tonight because they defended well.
“When you don’t win, you are frustrated. I feel tonight that some players looked as if they had not completely recovered from Sunday.
“But you see now that the point we took at Manchester United on Sunday was vital because had we lost that game we would be in trouble.
“We haven’t scored in the last three games at home and the fact that we haven’t scored played a part in our spontaneous attitude in our finishing.
“You have to expect your opponent to play well and for you to be good enough to beat them despite that. Overall, it is what it is.
“We are in a strong position to finish in the top three so let’s do it and finish well for the cup final.
“It’s important we finish well on Sunday and give a good final game for our fans and then prepare for the cup final.
“I haven’t got any nerves. We want to win our game on Sunday. We want to prepare to win the game. We could see some players are tired.
“We played our 56th game tonight and some players have given a lot and yet we must prepare well for Sunday and the cup final. We must win on Sunday.”
