Wenger warns Chelsea over Premier League title triumph

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has warned Chelsea that it will be tougher for them next season, after they emerged Premier League champions last Friday.

Wenger praised his London rivals, but believes that retaining the trophy will be more difficult, as they will juggle between the domestic scene and Champions League.

“Chelsea have done well, but in the last two seasons the team that won the league [it was Leicester the year before] hasn’t played in Europe,” he said.

“I congratulate Chelsea on what they’ve done, but when they play in Europe it’ll be a different story.

“I think we struggled a lot after what happened against Bayern [losing 5-1 in both legs of a Champions League last-16 tie] — a big blow, but it was still possible at the moment we played Bayern to come back at Chelsea.

“It’ll be a different season, because they will have to play on Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday. But, look, I don’t know what will happen next season,” he said.

“I think Chelsea has been extremely good and have won the championship this season but I think they won it two seasons ago too, and it just shows you they have exceptional quality.”
