Wenger switches attention to Lacazette with Mbappe set to join Real Madrid

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is now trying to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, amid fears Real Madrid will win the race to sign Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.

Wenger had made Mbappe his number one target this summer, but it now appears the 18-yer-old is set for La Liga, given Real Madrid’s stature and the fact The Gunners did not qualify for the Champions League.

The North London club is ready to ramp up their efforts to land Lacazette, a year after he launched a failed £35m bid to sign the player.

Lacazette scored 37 goals in 45 games for Lyon last season including 28 in Ligue 1 and looked set to leave for Atletico Madrid, before a transfer embargo was imposed on the Spanish club.

The 26-year-old has already confirmed his desire to leave the club and has also suggested Arsenal losing their Champions League status would not necessarily stop a deal .
