Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has called up Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema a few times this summer, to discuss a possible move to the Emirates.
According to Spanish journalist, Paco Gonzalez, the Frenchman is ready to link up with his compatriot, who he has admired since his Lyon days and has started making contact via phone calls.
The Gunners are looking for a new striker, following Lukas Podolski’s departure to Galatasaray.
Joel Campbell might also be sold this summer, while Yaya Sanogo has been left out of the squad for pre-season games in Singapore.
Benzema, who will cost up to £35million, has reportedly told Wenger he wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The striker might be forced to move eventually, with new manager Rafa Benitez looking to give Cristiano Ronaldo a more central attacking berth.
The 27-year-old recently signed a contract extension with Madrid, which expires in 2019.
