Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said his side are in “great shape”, despite their humiliating Champions League loss to Bayern Munich.

It is the seventh successive year the Premier League club is crashing out at the last-16 stage.

When asked whether it was his last Champions League as Arsenal manager, the Frenchman added: “I don’t know.

“You are always worried for headlines but I speak about football not about my future.

When asked what needed to change at Arsenal, he added: “What needs to change at this club? What do you mean by that? I think this club is in great shape.

“We are going through a very difficult situation so what needs to change is a result in the next game.”

He also insisted the defeat was not the most disappointing of his managerial career in European competitions.

“I don’t feel so because we knew before the game it was difficult to qualify after the first game,” Wenger said.

“But we wanted as a minimum to go home and feel like we dealt with the situation with pride and commitment. And we did.

“At the end of the night, the result will not highlight the quality of our performance, which is very disappointing.”
