Wenger holds further talks over new Arsenal contract

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has held further talks this week with the club’s senior officials, over a new two-year contract.

According to Mirror Sport, the discussions included majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke and other members of the club’s hierarchy.

Although, Wenger is spending the international break in Paris, he has been in regular contact with Kroenke, who wants him to continue at the club and oversee a rebuild this summer.

The Frenchman has reportedly agreed to the new deal verbally, but nothing has been signed yet.

Arsenal might lose Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the end of this season, but Wenger will be mandated to carry out a major overhaul of the squad.

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is top of their targets, while the Gunners will also appoint a new academy director and recruiting staff.

The club chiefs will also spend the next two years trying to find the right successor for Wenger.
