Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has claimed that the Karim Benzema transfer speculation is “dead”, after the Real Madrid striker committed his future to the La Liga side.

The Gunners are looking for an elite transfer in the market and were heavily linked with a big-money move for the Frenchman, who has now made it clear he does not plan to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Wenger, speaking after his team played a 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Monday night, stated that players under contracts were always difficult to buy.

“That story is dead. That story has always been created every week. When a player has a contract, it’s the club that decides,” he said.

“Real Madrid have said many times they don’t want to sell him. It’s the same for us when we have a player under contract.” .
