Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has received a big fitness boost, with news that Danny Welbeck is expected to return to action four months early.
Welbeck suffered a knee injury against Manchester City last season, which ruled him out of the 2016 European Championship.
The injury was expected to sideline him for year, but following surgery and futher check ups, that estimate has changed and Welbeck is now scheduled to be back around Christmas.
“The news was excellent and he will be back around Christmas,” Wenger said.
“He had a second check — not a procedure, a check with a camera inside. That was the good news of last week, the only good news. That was very positive.
“He has an inflammation of his knee and they had to go in again to see if it is healing well or not. If the healing was not good, he would have been out until April.”
