Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, has hinted that he might appeal Olivier Giroud’s potential 3-match game, after he takes a second look at the tackle.
The former Montpellier man was sent off late in the game against Fulham, as his team laboured to a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage. Wenger said he had spoken to his compatriot and he has denied any wrongdoing.
“I spoke with Giroud. He said to me that he slipped at the moment he went for the ball and it’s confirmed by the television,” he said. “I haven’t seen it but he’s not a tackler. He went over the ball and knowing that Sidwell had been sent off before, I had no illusion of the colour of the card.
Asked if he will appeal the dismissal, he replied:”I have to see it again. I haven’t seen it on television.”
However, on Steve Sidwell’s red card, Wenger feels his former player deserved it.
“Sidwell’s challenge was in front of me,” he stated. “I’ve seen that better. I think the referee had only the red card to give.”
