Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that they are set to complete a £3million deal for Nigerian starlets, Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.
The Gunners have seen off competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester City, to land the duo from Diamond Football Academy in Umuahia, Abia.
When Wenger was asked whether he expects the deal to be done before Monday’s deadline, he replied: “Yes. The (talks) are progressing well.
“Yes of course there are work permit issues. There are medical issues, because they have to make medicals. It’s progressing well.
“We identified Nwakali as the player of the tournament, basically, and as a top player. We will see if we can manage to get it over the line during this transfer period. [If we can], we will do it. He (Chukwueze) is signing as well.”
Nwakali was named Player of the Tournament at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, where he captained the Nigerian team to victory, while Chukwueze scored three times.
