Wenger blocks Arsenal board’s attempt to bring back Thierry Henry

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has blocked a boardroom move to add former striker, Thierry Henry to his coaching staff until the end of the season.

According to Mirror Sport, Henry was ready to accept the offer made by some board members, led by Josh the son of majority shareholder, Stan Kroenke.

Kroenke Jr believes the dressing room needs a lift and thinks the Gunners record goalscorer would be the right man to bring it, as the club remains in danger of missing out on a top-four finish and Champions League football.

Henry is currently a Sky Sports pundit and an assistant to Roberto Martinez with the Belgium national side.

Wenger has in the past blocked Henry who was taking on the role of the club’s U-18s coach. Henry has offered to work for free, but his compatriot was not receptive to the idea.

Henry who has his coaching A licence, was also snubbed when he volunteered to work with the Arsenal strikers on a part-time basis. There was a feeling within the club that Wenger saw him as a threat to his position.
