Wenger becomes Europe’s longest-serving manager

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, is now the longest-serving manager in European football, after Ronnie McFall ended his 29-year stay in charge of Portadown.

McFall, who was set to leave the Irish club at the end of the season, resigned after his side’s shock loss to Lurgan Celtic in the Irish Cup quarter-final.

The 29-year-old took charge at Portadown in December 1986, the same year Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed at Manchester United.

Ferguson called time at Old Trafford in 2013.

Wenger has been at Arsenal since October 1996.

McFall won more than 20 trophies with the club, including four league titles.
