Wenger admits “Lemar deal is dead”

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has admitted that a deal to sign to Thomas Lemar from Monaco, might not happen this summer.

Lemar is Wenger’s No1 target, following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette, but the Ligue 1 champions are reluctant to allow the France international leave.

The Gunners saw a third €50million offer turned down two weeks ago.

Speaking at his Thursday press conference ahead of this weekend’s trip to Liverpool, Wenger revealed that Monaco were not willing to do business for the player.

“Lemar deal is dead. Monaco have closed the door completely,” he said.

The Frenchman however insisted that they will be alert, as the transfer window shuts in one week.

“We are on alert in the last 7 days,” Wenger added.
