Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger, has insisted his team are not in the title race, despite closing in four points to the table toppers.

The Gunners beat Newcastle 2-1 on Saturday, with striker Olivier Giroud scoring twice in the first half.

Wenger says Chelsea have the advantage, because of the two outstanding games they have to play – including Sunday’s trip to Hull.

“Chelsea has a good security and I think they have enough to be quite serene,” Wenger told reporters at St James’ Park.

“I think Chelsea has too much security. I think at the moment we are not concluding we have still to fight and get the points.

“We will try and win the next game and then the next one, that is what we have to do – but you could see a few players were tired today.”

The Frenchman also admitted his side were tired in the second half, as the Magpies stormed back into the game with a goal.

He said: “The last 15 minutes were difficult and our legs had gone, but we had an outstanding first-half going forward and in the second-half we had to show something different.”
