Week 33 Review: Enyimba go five points clear, Warri Wolves held

Enyimba recorded a 2-1 victory over Shooting Stars on Sunday, to increase their lead at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NFPL), to five points.

Musa Najere gave the Aba side the lead in the 14th minute, before 3SC equalized through Ajani Ibrahim 11 minutes after the break.

Enyimba skipper, Chinedu Udoji, then headed in the winner with 15 minute left.

The Aba team now have 61 points from 33 matches.

Their closest rivals, Warri Wolves, were held to a 1-1 draw by Rangers in Enugu and now have 56 points.

Defending champions, Kano Pillars, put a dent on Sunshine Stars’ title chase, with a 2-1 win in Kano. Pillars now have 49 points, while Sunshine have 53 points.

In other games, Akwa United continued their fine home run, with a 2-1 win over Abia Warriors. Giwa FC beat Dolphins 1-0, Wikki Tourists lost 2-0 at Sharks, FC Taraba pipped Heartland 1-0, while Lobi Stars won 2-1 against Kwara United. .
