We will not shortchange Benue people – Ortom


Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says the present administration will not shortchange the people of the state in the management of resources.

Governor Ortom gave the assurance, Saturday in Otukpo during the wedding of Matthew Moses Enenche and Joan Oloche Otukpa at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

He said his administration will continue to serve the people with integrity, honesty and selflessness and to ensure that the people know precisely how much the state makes as income and how the funds are appropriated.

The Governor pledged the commitment of his administration to equitable distribution of projects and programmes to all sections of the state so that thee people can reap the gains of the change they voted for, saying that conscious efforts were made to ensure that the road projects abandoned by the previous administration which are now to be completed touch every zone of the state.

“We took the oath of office to be fair, just and transparent to our people and this is what we have been doing. No section of the state will be marginalised in the distribution of resources of the state. Our zero tolerance for corruption is also growing in strength,” he stated.

On security, Governor Ortom said his meeting a few days ago with President Buhari had led to the deployment of more troops to Agatu and other areas affected by clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

He congratulated the couple on their wedding and urged other young people to emulate them.

Earlier, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International, Dr. Paul Enenche, urged Christians to live lives worthy of emulation and to allow love to rule in their homes, businesses and other places of work.

He said the world will be a better place if leaders and the led complement one another and people carry out their duties wholeheartedly everyday as if that would be their last moment on earth.

Governor Ortom was accompanied to the wedding by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Terwase Orbunde, Commissioner for Finance, David Olofu, those of Information, Chief Odey Age, Lawrence Onoja Jnr of Youths and Sports and his Urban Development counterpart, John Otokpa Onoja, among Senior aides of the Governor.
