“We will all die” – IBB laments Kure’s death

Former Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has expressed sadness at the death of ex-Niger Govenor, Abdullahi Kure.

“The sudden death of former Governor of Niger State, Engineer Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure, in Germany comes to me in a great Shock,” IBB said in a statement sent to DAILY POST by his media office.

“But as a believer, ‘all souls must taste dead’ sooner or later”, he added.

IBB also condoled with family of the deceased, Government and people of Niger State.

General Babangida added that: “My amiable friend and companion is gone. We that are left behind are on transit and will depart sooner or later”.

He prayed for Allah mercy and forgiveness for the late Abdulkadir Kure and urged the family, people of Niger State and Nigeria at large to take heart and pray for him in his journey to the great beyond.

Meanwhile, Niger State government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, has declared a 3-day state-wide mourning.

It further directed that all flags should be at half mast across the state throughout the mourning period.

According to the Commissioner, the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello had also declared a work free day on the day of the burial of the former governor to enable all Nigerlites accord the departed leader a befitting burial.

The statement expressed that the government will miss the wise counsel of the former governor, who despite political differences never fail to offer meaningful advice to the government.

“The intervention of the former governor during the recent labour crisis in the state was not only legendary but showed him as an elder stateman, whose main concern was for the good, progress and unity of the state.

“Engineer Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure remain a leader who out of office showed concern for the development of the state.

“His statesmanship saw him jettisoning party affiliation when he personally intervened in the recent labour crisis in the state,” the statement concluded.
