We owe our success to Gov. Fayose’s support – Ekiti out-going CP

Outgoing Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, (CP), CP Etop John James, has revealed that the success recorded by his command during his stewardship in the state was only possible because of the immense support he got from the Executive Governor of the state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

The CP had surmounted some serious security challenges of kidnapping, political unrest, killings and maiming among others in the state in his one and half year tenure.

Etop who said his nine year experience with British community policing had prepared him for the challenges of policing Ekiti, disclosed that though some of his colleagues at the Force headquarters, Abuja, FCT, weren’t happy with his posting to Ekiti, he had accepted the challenge relying on tactical community policing to surmount the security challenge of the state.

He spoke during a send-forth ceremony organized for him by the state government at the Government office, Ado-Ekiti, yesterday.

Also, pouring encomium on CP Etop, Special Adviser to governor Fayose on Security matters, Mr. Ojo (rtd), said: ” he’s been a good and reliable officer which has endeared him towards other officers of the Nigeria Police Force. He has come and leaving without any blemish. I commend governor Fayose for supporting the outgoing CP and other sister security operatives in the state. I Implore all stakeholders in security in the state to always remember a day of reckoning. I wish the in coming CP would follow CP Etop’s footsteps.”

During his remarks, one of the many service chiefs who attended the ceremony, Ekiti State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Commandant Jaji Suleiman, said :

“I’m two years old here, and have served with three commissioners of police, it is not an ear say, you have been the most cooperative and team spirit working commissioner, always seeking opinions of others before taking decisions. We have enjoyed relative peace since the gov came in.”

Afterwards, the state government presented a parting gift to CP Etop from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Modupe Alade.

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion included Deputy Gov, Secretary to State Government, Chief Bola Olu Ojo, Head of Service, Gbenga Faseluka, CP Musa Ojo (rtd), Mr Alabi, S.A on special duties, CP James Etop and wife, service chiefs, Donatus Ikemefuna, FRSC commandant, NDLEA, Jaji Suleman, Rep of Commander , 32 commandant Brigade, G.G Simon, Sector commander, FRSC, Usmaila M, Deputy Commissioner, DPC Abubakar, and Comptroller of Prison, Ekiti, Mr. Akinyemi Afolabi, Alhaji Musa Konga, S.A on Hausa Community and others.
