We didn’t shut Christian leaders out of prayer meeting – Ondo govt

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has denied reports in the media that the state government shut out some Christian leaders from holding Prayer meeting at the International Culture Event Center (DOME).

The governor said the event center had earlier been booked for the 2nd Niger Delta summit hosted by the state.

It will be recalled that the Ondo State government, last Thursday allegedly shut out Christian leaders from the the Dome.

The State government allegedly restrained them from holding their annual prayer summit in the state.

The Christian leaders under the aegis of the Niger Delta Christian Leaders Forum (NDCLF) were gathered in the state for a programme tagged: “2017 Prayer Summit” to make intercessions for Nigeria.

Speaking while receiving President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria ,( PFN ), Bishop (Dr) Felix Omobude in Akure ,the Ondo state capital ,Ondo state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, said that the event centre was the venue of the Niger Delta summit and the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was to declare the summit open on the same day that the Christian body approached the management of the centre and they were told to make use of the MKO Abiola Democracy Park for free of charge.

The state Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi spoke on behalf of the governor.

Arakunrin Akeredolu reiterated his commitment to ensuring coexistence among religious leaders bodies in the state.

He, therefore, urged religious leaders in the country to continue to pray for the unity of the country, adding that it is their prayers that still keeps the country as one till today.

The Governor used the opportunity to inform the gathering that the APC led-Federal Government has commenced public hearing on restructuring, noting that the committee is in Akure to meet with the people of the zone which comprises Ondo, Osun and Ekiti.

Speaking earlier,President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN ,Bishop Felix Omobude said he was in the state in continuation of the tour of the States of the Federation to preach the message of peace and to pray for the people of Ondo State and the government.

He commended Ondo State Government on good governance initiatives, saying he was a product of good governance that he enjoyed free education programme introduced by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the Western Region of Nigeria, stressing that good governance value cannot be overemphasized.

He later prayed for the state and the county at large.
