We are caught between light, darkness in Edo – Governor’s wife, Betsy

Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has called on women to be role models and contribute to the development of the state and the country.

The wife of the governor said women should strive to bring up their children in the way and fear of God to reduce crime and human trafficking so that the country could be peaceful.

Mrs. Obaseki who stated this during the event marking her inauguartion as the patron of teh Nigerian Girls Guide Association in Benin City blamed the death of the association in the State and other similar notable institutions on the rise of illegal trafficking in the State over the years.

According to the first lady, “we have bastardized humanity in this country, all because of politics and this should change for the better because good and development must overcome evil and bad people for we to have the Edo we have being raying for.

“This fight as it relates to human trafficking is for the soul of Edo State, it is between light and darkness and darkness cannot overcome light. The efforts of the state against human trafficking must succeed.

Mrs. Obaseki assured the people of the state that the current state government would not tolerate any form of human trafficking, stressing that anyone found wanting would be made to face the law.

She also inaugurated the wives of the chairmen of the eighteen local government council in the state as matrons of NGGA and charged them to mentor every woman in their area in a manner that would encourage them in joining the movement.

Briefing the first lady, the commissioner of the Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Mrs Enebeli Ukpor Mary said the NGGA was concerned with the development of the moral values of the Girl Child, character molding and skill acquisition.
